Brady Tkachuk is still waiting for his first point with the Florida Panthers, and the early-season scoring drought is starting to become a storyline. Through his first five games with Florida, the power forward has yet to find the scoresheet, and the numbers are becoming even more concerning when looking back at the end of last season.
Tkachuk has now gone 10 straight games without recording a point, including his final games in last year’s playoffs. For a player known for his physical presence, offensive ability, and willingness to drive the net, it’s a stretch he’d undoubtedly like to put behind him.
The Panthers brought in Tkachuk expecting him to bring energy, toughness, and scoring to their lineup. He’s the type of player who can change the momentum of a game with a big hit, a net-front battle, or a timely goal. But so far, the offensive production hasn’t been there.
Florida hasn’t exactly had an easy start, either. Injuries to key players such as Brad Marchand and Aleksander Barkov have made things more difficult, leaving the Panthers without some important pieces of their lineup. When a team is missing that much talent, it can put additional pressure on its remaining offensive weapons to step up.
The good news for Florida is that five games is still a very small sample size. Tkachuk has built his reputation on playing an intense, physical style, and sometimes the points follow once a player starts finding his rhythm. One goal could be all it takes to get him going again.
Still, the Panthers will need more from their new forward as the season progresses. Florida has championship expectations, and Tkachuk wasn’t brought in simply to throw hits and stir things up. The team needs him to contribute offensively, especially while other key players are unavailable.
The question now is how long this drought will last. Tkachuk has the talent and competitive fire to turn things around, but the Panthers will be hoping that first goal comes sooner rather than later.
Can Brady Tkachuk break out of his slump and become the offensive force Florida needs, or should Panthers fans be concerned about his slow start?
